Youta lives alone in a large house in Tokyo due to
his mother's death when Youta was six and his father went
to Paris to work as a artist. Probably because of this,
Youta became shy and awkward towards females. Which was
why he didn't express his feelings when he had a crush on
with Moemi. Instead, when he knew Moemi liked Takashi, he
encouraged Moemi not to give up even though he knew
Takashi didn't like her. Youta's only best friend was
Takashi.
Moemi was the character who got pushed around
between Youta and Takashi. This was because Youta thought
that Takashi was whom she liked so she should be with him
while Takashi thought Youta should take the chance since
he didn't like Moemi. Despite this, Moemi didn't give up
and Takashi eventually accepted her in hope of making
Youta jealous of them and thus expressing his love to
Moemi. However, the plan wasn't successful and instead
backfired and made the relationship an unhappy one. Later
in the story, Moemi and Takashi broke up.
Ai was one of the Video Girls created by Rolex. Ai
was first programmed to comfort emotionally hurt Youta.
But after being played on the spoilt VCR, Ai's programme
was scrambled and she became a Video Girl who is wilful,
wild and strong. (She gave Junta air slams, kicks,
throws...) She would tease Youta mercilessly and try to
kill him when he does something wrong. Other signs of
scrambled programming includes cooking nice, but tastless
dishes, having human emotions (e.g. happy, sad...) etc. A
metaphor for Ai is a projector, in which the VCR projects
her. Thus, using the controller could control her
movements. Ai is also the main source of laughter and
attraction in Video Girl Ai.
A charismatic, cool, handsome and popular guy in
High School. Even though having dozens of girls being
after him, Takashi doesn't have any interest to girls
probably due to failed romance in the earlier years.
Takashi was a very good friend, took care of him, worry
over Youta's troubles and even trying to get a girl for
him. I should say he's more like a brother to Youta than
a good friend. Takashi is said to be a perfect contrast
to Youta.
The cold and cruel Rolex was the being who created and
programmed Video Girls. Rolex was the one who tried to
separate Ai from Junta but failed with help from the old
man from Video Shop Gokuraku. Despite being termed
"evil", Rolex is actually a perfectionist who
seeks perfection in his creation. And to achieve this
goal, Rolex had to destroy creations that failed. He
didn't make any innocent people like Moemi and Takashi
suffer since they weren't involved.
This old man is the owner of Video Shop
Gokuraku. Much information about the old man is unknown.
But one thing sure about him is that he acts as a medium
between Rolex, the Video Girls and the guys being dumped.
Whatever it is, the old man plays a small role, but yet
significant in a particular way. Wonder why he wants to
be such a owner who probably would not make profit out of
this "SURPRISE!!!" shop. ( It pops out of
nowhere...)
