Shinji
is the only male main character in Neon Genesis
Evangelion the Series. Shinji is the third child selected
to activate Evangelion Unit One. Shinji mother died when
he was young and abandoned by his father, Gendou. Shinji
had longed to live with his father. And maybe that was
why Shinji had the will to be one of the pilots of the
Evangelion Units. Shinji stayed in Misato's residence
when he became one of the pilots. Despite his easy and
frank personality, he hates Asuka for scolding him stupid
all day long and doesn't wish to cooperate with her.
However, it was Rei that he thought was better than
Asuka. Something that bothered him was why did Gendou
treated Rei better than his own son...
Rei was the
first child selected to be the pilot of the Evangelion
Units. Rei's cold attitude towards things often makes
people misunderstand her feelings and opinions. Despite
being cold, Rei could be a calm person in combat and can
act according to orders given. She is also quite a good
listener. (to someone that is!) Even though she looks
simple and shy, Rei seems to know some deep secret of
NERV and the Evangelion Units that the other pilots does
not know. Its also said that Rei had something to do with
NERV, Gendou and his experiment when Gendou was younger.
Asuka
is the second child to be selected as an Evangelion Unit
pilot. She's hyperactive, mentally strong and outrages
sometimes. She likes scolding people stupid(especially
Shinji) and wearing yellow dresses of English style. She
controls Evangelion Unit 02 and was the third pilot to
appear in the anime. Her dramatic appearance at sea left
a great impression. (I liked the comical part where she
made Shinji wear the female plugsuit) Don't be fooled by
her behavour. She actually had a tragedy of being
abandoned by her mother when she was very young and she
was brought up in Germany by a foster mother. (Did her
mother went mad or what?) On the whole, Asuka is really a
strong girl. Yes, very strong.
Misato is the new
guardian of Ikari Shinji and Ayanami Rei. Misato loves
beer as much as she loves men. Though Misato always seems
so happy, Misato is actually a very lonely person. She
always acts in a happy mood to escape from the sadness in
her heart. Besides being restless at some times, Misato
is in fact a good combat strategist.
Ryohji is the
ex-boyfriend of Misato. He was said to have went away
years ago to Germany. He appears in the anime when he
boarded the same ship as Asuka's to go to NERV. However,
the appearance of this guy wasn't that simple as it
seems...( Hee... Actually I didn't really know what
happen...)
Ritsuko
was ann ex-classmate of Misato & now a collegue of
her. She is supposedly to be exceptionally gifted in
science and inventions just like her mother. Ritsuko is
loggerheads with Misato and her words often made Misato
mad. She's also good at fixing problems. (I don't mean
water pipes...)
